  2. SHORT SPEECH: A one to three minute speech (50 pts. possible). Typed or word-processed complete sentence outline required (25 pts. possible). Basic Speech Planning Form required (20 pts. possible). [95 pts.]

  3. INFORMATIVE SPEECH:  A five to eight minute speech to demonstrate class members' grasp of public and informative speaking principles (100 pts. possible). Visual aid required. Typed or word-processed complete sentence outline required (40 pts. possible). Basic Speech Planning Form required (20 pts. possible). [160 pts.]

  4. EXAM #2: Overall lecture, class discussion, reading assignments, etc., specified. (Includes Units III & IV, Units I & II as specified.) [200 pts.]

  5. FIRST PERSUASIVE SPEECH: A five to eight minute speech to demonstrate class members' grasp of previous study and persuasive communication and argumentation principles (100 pts possible). Typed or word-processed complete sentence outline required (40 pts. possible). [140 pts.] 

  6. SECOND PERSUASIVE SPEECH: A five to eight minute speech to demonstrate class members' grasp of persuasive communication and argumentation principles (100 pts possible). Typed or word-processed complete sentence outline required (40 pts. possible). [140 pts.]

  7. NOTEBOOK ASSIGNMENT: All class notes, handouts, etc., are to be gathered into a notebook according to instructions in this syllabus. [50 pts.]

  8. SELF AND CLASS ASSESSMENT: Throughout the term, each student should perpare an essay describing personal benefits derived from the course (and what aspects of the course were especially beneficial) and how particular modifications of course content, policies or instruction might benefit the student in his or her own case. [Pass/Fail/Extra Credit]

  9. LIBRARY RESEARCH ASSIGNMENT: On a subject of the class member's choice, various source citations, photocopies, printouts, etc., will be required. [55 pts.]

  10. ATTENDANCE/PUNCTUALITY/PARTICIPATION: Due to the nature of this course, attendance, punctuality and participation will be reflected as a significant portion of the final grade. This grade component may be especially affected by tardiness or absences during class member presentation. (SEE IMPORTANT NOTICE). [100 pts.]

  11. SPEECH NIGHT ATTENDANCE: Class members are required to attend Speech Night (an evening activity). [Pass/Fail/Extra Credit]
